In my opinion a picture comes from an inner desire. At the source a photo is always the result of an act of love toward something that touches us deeply, in my case the mountains. This is a breeding ground which leads each time to a new idea, project, converging in the subsequent active commitment in realizing it, with will, deployment of resources, time, knowledge, money and, in case of my specific photographic field, a lot of physical/mental effort.
This undertaking is on the spot. Therefore, it is essential a great knowledge of the places I want to capture, what they potentially can offer and when. With all possible approximations, because having to deal with the unpredictable forces of nature is anything but easy.
The study of the exposure to the cardinal points is essential, as well as the study of the night sky on special maps for stars shooting. I also need mountaineering-survival equipment suited to the places where I want to venture.
